With media streaming devices (Sonos & Slim Devices) making inroads into the home, it is time for Illustrate to make the transition from software to software & hardware. The first foray is RipNAS.

RipNAS combines and perfects Audio CD ripping, Network Attached Storage and Media Streaming in one easy to use small (high 'partner acceptance factor') box. Audio CDs are ripped and stored losslessly and securely through multi-drive mirroring [multi-HDD models only]. Audio files are shared for streaming through the network to a multitude of Network audio players available. Windows Home Server is the OS of choice, offering complete home network backup for all family Windows PCs.

Progress Update

The final design has finalized (component selection is complete), final prototypes are being built. We are running a little behind schedule, but our moto for this device is 'quality, quality, quality' (see the ripping drive selection process).

The Value system has been dropped, 'cheap' noisy boxes are not our remit, we have replaced the value system with RipNAS Essentials.

RipNAS Essentials

This comprises of our software ready to install onto any Windows Home Server machine to transform into a ripping machine. Designed for HP Media Smarts, etc, this software when installed onto a system (and used with an external USB drive) adds ripping abilites. Initially available as software only, shortly followed by USB drive and software combo.
