Installed Sveta and removable device driver. I click on "add device". It searches and tells me "no devices found". I have a Dell DJ 20 and I can see/access it in Explorer. ???

Which windows version? How does the device appear in Explorer? As a removable drive?

Does the Dell DJ get a drive letter?

Thanks for the replies. Do I need to say oops? In XP it shows as "Other" and expands to "Storage Media". In Vista it shows as "Portable Devices" and also expands to "Storage Media". No drive letters.

I believe there are two modes of accessing portable devices such as these, but I forget the names. One is a mass storage mode, where the device gets a drive letter and I would assume can be used by Sveta, the other is the portable device mode where it does NOT get a drive letter and, it appears, cannot be seen by Sveta.

Well, I have the same problem here...got a Dell DJ 20gb device and I tried getting it to work thinking of purchasing the software, and no luck. The WMP driver finds it and dumps it in the end (releases it as I saw in the log file), leaving the screen reporting an incorrect amount space (around 2gbs). WMP does find the device, and does work with it correctly. Originally the DJs came with a firmware that only allowed access by installing a driver. The firmware can be updated (it should) to playsforsure standards. Explorer still does not treat it as a separate drive (no letter). Mine is updated, therefore wmp picks it up etc.. It is still a real pain to work with it with musicmatch, wmp, and just plain explorer and I really thought this was a cool solution. If you ever find a way please let me know. Btw, the Creative Zen Touch is almost the same device as this, but the driver does exactly the same as the wmp one. Any info would be appreciated.:o

I would like to repeat and maybe explain a bit more what LtData already said.
when the device appears only in WMP and similar programs and doesn't have a drive letter, then there is a need for a special driver for that device.
if you could put it into a mode where it behave like a standard flash drive, and appears in explorer with a drive letter, then the Sveta driver for removable storage could find it and use it.

I know for sure that on SanDisks Sansa there is a selection between these two modes somewhere in options. I would recomend searching for such options in your players menu.

On the other hand I know for sure that most of Sony's players can only be accessed thru their special program. Otherwise great hardware, very good for everyday usage, just the pluging in and changing the music is a pain.

Nope, there is no way of switching modes within the device. A software written for it called Deubox by Redchair Software (which enhances explorer's functionality a bit, but still nothing like yours, with integration to dbpoweramp etc), has a setting to switch "driver modes", but it changes from firmware 1.x(use custom driver) to 2.x (playsforsure)...so no, I don't think it can be switched. So, my question would be, is there hope for Sveta to have access to this device(and I guess the Zen Touch as I believe it is almost the same) one day soon? There really isn't much hope left as these devices are discontinued (another Ipod victim I guess). Refurbished ones are popping up very cheap all over the market these days (I got a 20gb for less than $50, refurbished-to-new direct from Dell, and they are all over ebay), that's why I think there should be a certain demand...

Have you tried the Sveta WMD driver from here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/sveta-portable-audio.htm ?

Yes, that's the driver I meant on my first post (I called it "WMP" driver instead), I also tried the Creative drivers for Zen and Jukebox, and the removable device driver as well. The WMD picks it up, and after looking at the log in the sveta folder, it says released after an error. That WMD driver connects to the device, finds it by its right name (I call it "My Jukebox"), but then reads 6 files from it, does not display them and recognizes 2 gbs instead of the 20. I believe that it is after that that you see the error in the log (with several retries, I'll post the file if you want me to, it is kind of long), and then the release of the device. Sveta however still shows it as connected and seems to be able to perform some functions on it, it just can't read its contents and report the right amount of space. The drivers seems to be so close to getting it right....(hope the long, detailed explanation helps)

Do note that Sveta is the next program due for an update to the dMC r12-level codecs. So what is out there probably isn't going to be fixed until the new version and corresponding drivers come out.

I followed the instructions for adding my apple ipod to the Sveta.

I got the add apple Ipod and got an Icon on my desktop.
I plugged the ipod into my computer. It added.

I double clicked on apple ipod icon that sveta put on desktop.
it just went into a loop. In other words my computer stalled and had to do a control alt and delete and end the sveta task.

I went to Itunes. Apple software no longer recognized the ipod.
I did not know what to do. I uninstalled-reinstalled itunes after uninstalling
Sveta. I restarted computer. I checked to see if my ipod showed up in
My Computer. It showed up as drive E with my name as name of ipod.
I went to Itunes and it ran..but it would not recognize my ipod in itunes.
I ran the itunes diagnostic. It advised me to go to my computer and then Manage, then services and applications. After double clicking on the Ipod service on the right I stopped the service, connected ipod, waited for the ipod to show up in my computer. As I was told to leave the Ipod services window open, I now was told to start the service.
There were other instructions to follow, but at this time itunes recognized my ipod..so Ihad everything back to normal except for now Sveta was no longer on my computer.
I dont know if i didnt follow instructions fully for the sveta. Can I be pointed in the right direction so I dont mess up my computer again?

Version of Windows? You installed the iPod driver and ran the iPod registry fix, right? When I still used it, Sveta worked fine with my 5.5G 30GB iPod.
