I just read that Microsoft decided to close the msn music license servers at the end of this summer. This really sucks cause this means that after 31st of august all the music I got from them over the years will not work on any other computer than the one I have now.I don't really plan to change my computer this year but when I decide do get a better one or maybe upgrade to vista what am I supposed to do with all my music?:(

After August 31, you're music won't be able to retrieve it's licenses and will just be taking up space.

A cautionary tale, if ever I have heard one.

1) Burn to CD as MP3 (bitrate 160 is supported, they say). Keeps the music at inferior quality.
2) In the future avoid DRM -- and, if necessary, relocate yourself to a jurisdiction where you are allowed to do backups.

Isn't 160 a bit low?I'd rather have them at an approximately good quality. It might work to burn them to cd's and then rerip to computer but I kinda have a lot of music, this would wear out my cd rom and it would be a bit of a waste to use such a large number of cd's.There must be another way around this.

What bitrate are the WMA files? You are best off re-ripping them to the same bitrate they currently are when you make them mp3s.
As for what to do, there are programs such as Tunebite that record the audio as it is played.

Hi,
It's quite good.
I've been using it for some time...but I don't seem to have enough time to spend in front of my PC anymore.....
You can check it out here (http://audials.com/en/remove_drm/index.html) and see for yourself if this proggy suits you.
I can only recommend it:thumbup:
Good luck!;)

Actually, it looks like some versions of Tunebite can un-DRM 9 tracks at once.
