where does the static come from

soem times if i'm burning a compliation from my hard drive the rsulting disc is full of static...where the hell is it coming from...bad wiring or something?

Might be a fault with the CD writer. You could try different burning programs, or different CD-R media.

Track at once is known to introduce clicks, artifacts and all sorts of crap in the 2 second gaps in between the tracks but I've never heard of it happening during the tracks. hmmm...
