I have been using the Sveta program for the Rio 300 for months with no problem. I am using Windowsa XP. Now all of the sudden it says the Rio300 is not connected when it is. I have checked the connections, reinstalled the printer port, nothing works. Any suggestions?

Something might have been installed, or the printer port changed from ECP?

Port lpt1 is set as ECP EPP. Any thoughts?

Try setting a delay - Sveta Add Device >> Advanced - select Rio 300 Properties.

I tried all the delay settings. Nothing worked. When I go into the program it asks to format the internal memory. When I click OK it says the Rio300 is not connected, check connection and press refresh. I do that, but all I get is that the Rio300 is not connected.

I did finally get the Rio300 to work with Sveta. But it was quite involved with XP. I unstalled the printer on that port, uninstalled the port, uninstalled all the "Illustrate" programs, deleted all the files in the "Illustrate" directory, deleted all trace of "Illustrate" from the registry using "Regedit". Then I reinstalled the printer/port, and the all the dMC programs and Rio program. Then it worked.

Well done, you went that extra step of effort, now it works :)
Like you said it could have been any one of of those actions that fixed the problem.

Win XP, Got the sveta program with the Rio 300 driver installed. Clicked on the desktop icon the program came up, showed the songs I had on the internal 32mb of memory and the 8mb external. Formated the disk, got ready to send some mp3s over and it said rio not detected. So I restarted and as soon as it came up it says you need to format internal memory and then says not connected. I went to my bios and changed it to the ECP/EPP setting I think. Then rebooted. Still didn't work. So then I went into the delay setting and moved it to a higher setting. Clicked on it and it came on and recognized the rio. I transfered 4 songs said it was full then said rio not recognized. My printer worked fine so the port is ok. In this process I also ubhooked the printer from the serial pass through to see if that would help but it still had the problems.
Basically what that guy typed is what I saw but it quit working again...
Also unistalled everything and reinstalled.
Thanks SpoonMan...

Nothing I think just about eveything you will ask me I have done, and I did each one of them individually so I could tell what worked. But it was just weird, You know like you said when you add the device it see that it is connected adn lets you add it. Then it worked for a little bit then drops it. It seem to work when I bumbed up the the delay. But I added my songs, and when i hit refresh it wouldn't show the songs I had just added to the rio on the list. Then if gave me the error it wasn't connected. The songs are on the rio and I can play them in my car and where ever. I haven't tried anything else cause after I got my songs on there I headed to work to research it more on the net. Which is where I am now...

You might try the Bios on EPP on its own. Be careful of the delays, too much of a delay can work against you.

I totaly uninstalled everything and deleted anything that had rio on it... Then reinstalled it. Will not work at all now. Just comes up first thing and says it is suggested you reformat the internal memory. Then you hit ok an dit says rio not connected. But like I said before when you go to the add device, if I unplug the rio it doesn't show I can add it. If I do plug it in it does show it to be added. So I know it sees it.
And that is where I am at today, I'll try the epp today...

Damn, does anyone support the freakin Rio 300pmp....
I go the new music match plus and it doesn't even support the rio...
This is the worse I have ever seen a computer company do, the rio pmp 300 was the first and best mp3 player people liek my self went out and spent the 200+ dollars for the thing and now the company that makes it doesn't even care anymore to bother and keep software for it...
Ill never by another Product from sonicblue or diamond...
Some one needs to be responsible...
