Just installed 12.1 Reference trial to see how the ripper performed on a badly damaged disc EAC was having problems with. No matter what settings I come up with, I get the message: Unable to read CD, check CD disc (frame LBA 247822 ripping 26 frames track end LBA 268402) [clRipperSecure::Rip]

Undamaged tracks on the CD rip perfectly, so no issues there.

Is there a way I can force the ripper to attempt re-reads and interpolate the damaged sectors? I already have the Secure Options set up to be:

Abort After Unrecoverable Frames: (no abort)
and I have Interpolate Unrecoverable Frames checked.

What else can I do? Right now the ripper is just giving up and giving me a blank .wav file. :(

You can set the number of re-reads, minimum reads, etc. in the Secure settings. Also, try enabling Ultra-Secure mode.

Also, the disc might be too scratched to be read by the drive itself, thereby not giving software anything to work with.

It might also be worth trying the rip with several different optical drives. Some of the error detection/correction features that dbpa can/will take advantage of may not be available (or may not work as well) on some drives (or via interface/driver connections) vs. others.

Yes, all of the following were enabled. I think your second suggestion is correct. EAC just sits on the scratched portion for hours and hours at a time, so it's pretty bad.

Thanks for the replies.

Have you tried a resurfacing device such as Spin Doctor to try to remove some of the scratches?
