View Full Version : Strange Behavior with r12

I have recently installed r12 separately from r 11.5 as advised.
Since then, I have noted strange behavior. For many tracks, dAP seems to work fine. Others it will skip over and refuse to play even if they are queued from My Music Collection or if I track them down in their files and right-click to play them. This appears to affect .mp3 files in particular, not .ogg vorbis or .mpc files. I am not entirely sure whether it affects all .mp3 files.

Stranger is that when dAP skips over these tracks it seems to be creating dummy duplicated 0 kb in size in MMC.

Any ideas on how to avoid this?

Best wishes,
Bill

Perhaps when you installed the ogg and mpc codecs you uninstalled the older version (from dAP)

No. My R12 reference shows .ogg and .flac as having been installed (with the original installation, not as a separate codec download) but I have not yet installed the r12 .mpc codec and my older dAP codecs still show when I open up a file with r11.5. Further, it appears to be the .mp3 files that are misbehaving.

Install Beta 3 of dap, see if dAP works, then install R12 to a different folder.

Even if I am already running dAP3 beta and have already installed dMC r12 in a different folder?

Yes, R12 should not affect dap in the slightest (uses different dlls, encoders and decoders).

As Spoon says. I can successfully run dAP even though I have installed r12 to a different location. No problems with wma, mp3, ogg, etc.

It seems to be resolved for now.

I had to uninstall dMCr12, remove dMC from the registery, uninstall dAP (no, simply running the dAP Reset app. was NOT enough), and then reinstall both programs to where I had them before. Seems to be working for all files now (before dAP was skipping all mp3 files, but playing other formats).

Thank you for your insights.

Best wishes,
Bill
