I found a program that can convert both WMA protected and AAC protected files to mp3. It's called SoundTaxi. You can download it for free, but the free version will only convert 30 seconds of the file. You have to buy it to get full functionality. The good news is it costs less than $15, and trust me it works. I've been using it for a few days now and have successfully converted most of my napster files and I am now working on iTunes music store files. It works faster for wma files though. For iTunes files it's a bit slower, but not slow enough to deter me from using it. It's worth the $15. Get it here:

Hi,
I came across this post searching for a tool to help me to convert my files so that I can play them on my mp3 player. Does this tool really convert the files without loss of quality? Does it convert also video files or only wma's?

Although I doubt it, that you still need an answer, soundtaxi converts your audio files, but not the video files too.
I use Tunebite for video files, although not at a big resolution :(

I'd go for Tunebite...I think it's the best and because of Tunebite I realized I don't have to cancel my napster account :thumbup:

@Just_in
I presume you meant, you want to convert some "audio files" not "video files" to mp3 :)
And yes, you can do that with Tunebite (http://www.audials.com) . But beware, Tunebite is 100% legal, so you need to have the active licenses for the songs in order to convert them/remove the DRM protection.
@Duck26
Why would you want to cancel your Napster account in the first place ?

So, I'm using Tunebite for a while now and got used to it and everything, I am very happy that it really converts fast, as it says it does, iTunes are converted at 1x but the wmp files are converted very fast. So, I'd recommend it to all who want to convert their audio/video files.

Still don't understand what you mean, you can do that Tunebite ? extract the sound from a video file ? how do you do that ? because the link you provided there is not very clear on this issue..it's just another link to the Tunebite homepage

So I read all this debate about what Tunebite can convert or not and as I user of Tunebite I must say that this tool is great and can convert really fast both audio or video files. So I don't see what is that RastaMan doesn't understand. You can convert for sure (because I have tried) both video and audio files.

Hey Just_in are you by any chance using Windows Vista together with Tunebite?

I prefer Notecable, you can convert all protected and unprotected music all by this tool. Tunebite is so awful, you need to find lame encoder for converting to mp3 which is the most popular audio format...
