View Full Version : RIO 300 not talking to SPA

I have two Rio 300's and both act the same way. They worked with SPA during the trial period earlier this summer. Since I registered dbPowerAMP, I can't get SPA to talk to the 300.

I am using WinXP. Between the time it worked and now I have installed all the MS suggested upgrades including SP1.

When starting SPA, the communicating icon on the 300 flashes. SPA times out with "It is recommended that 'internal' memory is formatted." SPA then says that the 300 is not connected. I have tried all the BIOS settings for the parallel port with the various delay settings.

The sveta-log.txt file contains:

---> Searching Config for Device Name
Seaching For 'Diamond Rio 300' Comparing Against 'Diamond Rio 300': Match Found! - Internal Device Name 'Diamond Rio 300'
<--- Search Config Match Found
Initializing 'C:\PROGRAM FILES\ILLUSTRATE\DBPOWERAMP\Sveta\Devices\Diamond Rio 300.dll'
LPT Port 0x378 Aquired
Match Found
Looking for Rio 300: [Got Manufacturer 0x98 Device 0xE6] External [Got Manufacturer 0x98 Device 0x73]Found
Getting Directory 'Internal Memory': Error CRC on directory mismatch!

Thanks,

Mike

Hmmm, it is hard to tell from looking at the logs.

I will download and install SP1 right now and check it out.

If you are able to, find a computer with Windows 98 and format the Rios using the supplied Rioport.

I formatted each unit with the RIO Format utility on an old laptop w/Win98. One listed about 60% bad blocks on the internal memory, the other was fine. After the RIO format utility both showed 100% memory avail. SPA worked fine right away.

I wonder if RIOPort did something to the memory. I used that utility until the registration process went wacky and they wouldn't help me any more. I wish I'd found dbPowerAMP and SPA before I wasted my $ on RIOPort.

With this great service and quick fix to my problem, I'm going to be recommending SPA and dbPowerAMP.

Thanks,

Mike

I could do with getting one of these Rio 300s in that state, so I can make Sveta work with it. I will take a peek at the source code.

BTW some 12 hours later SP1 for Windows XP has just downloaded! :)

Looked in the source and made a fix, that should stop this in future. Uploading soon.

Spoon,

I had a HARD HD crash. Since then, I've reinstalled my registered dbPowerAMP and SPA. I began to get the error that began this post in October. At that time you posted a fix for me that worked great until the crash. I am getting the same sveta-log.txt. It started working fine, but I cancelled the transfer. When I restarted, it began telling me to format the internal memory then SPA doesn't find the RIO.

1) Do you still have the fix? 2) Could that help colleen from another thread?

Thanks,

Mike

Sounds like the fix didn't work. :(

I can dig up a 98 machine and format the memory, it's getting harder these days (to find a computer w/98, memory format happens without user intervention). I may not get back to it till this weekend due to business travel beginning tomorrow. I'll let you know.

If you want email dbpoweramp@dbpoweramp.com and I will fire test versions in your direction, it might take a week to sort out the problem.
