dMC r9 producing MP3 Blade?

I don't understand why my iPaq 3660 running WMP 7.1 can play MP3 Blade files ripped by dMC release 5, but can't play MP3 Lame files (by release 5 or 9). It seems to me that dmC r9 can produce MP3 Lame but not Blade... Does dMC dMC r9 producing MP3 Blade?

Release 9 does not include Blade, but you can add it by downloading the codec from the Downloads section of this site.

It is strange that it doesn't like Lame files - I've never had any problems with my MP3s and almost all were created in Lame.
