Has any long term winamp or other music player users just made the permanent switch to iTunes to play DRM music with your original CD collection? I bought an ipod, and have not used iTunes prior to doing so. I am up in the air about playing the DRM files or the CD ripped mp3s that I made.

CDs will give you superior files and there is no reason to also purchase said songs on iTunes. Just convert your CDs to mp4 or mp3 and play them on your iPod.
That said, the quality of the mp3s will be comparable to the m4p files purchased from iTunes, but there is no reason to buy the song twice (once on CD, once from iTunes).

itunes = bloated
I won't go near it.
Also, I hear itunes' mp3 encoder isn't as good as lame.
Stick with DMC for all your audio encoding needs, it really is the best.
I am a long time user of winamp2, and I doubt that will change anytime soon.
