Hello all
I swore I would never buy one - but now I have by mistake,
namely a CD which will not play on the computer.
It is stated quite clearly in the little copyright box on the back.
Is there any way I can get this into uncomplicated, unprotected audio files ?
Best regards and thanks in advance from
Ray

Aha! :D
Well, the only way would be to connect a standalone cd player (which may need to also be put through an amplifier of sorts) to the computer's soundcard using line-out and line-in and then record the audio as it's being played by your cd player and passed along from line-out to the sound-card's line-in and captured using dMC Auxiliary Input.
It will be similar to the way to record from vinyl or tape.
Long (real time), tedious, but feasible if you have the setup.

Thanks Christina - that's what I feared.
I'll give it a try.
Thanks very much from Ray

The first thing you need to do is find out in what way the disk is defective. I'm guessing it doesn't have the 'compact disk digital audio' logo on it. That would mean that it is not really a CD. I suggest trying to get your money back. As a PAYING customer, you shouln't have to deal with that kind of junk.
1. learn what is wrong with it
2. find the solution to that particular problem
... but using your linein will work..

Try audio cd input and select the Options >> Standard CD player >> Table of contents detection method.
